Eric P. Rasmussen was educated at Paul
Smith’s College and graduated from the New York State College of Forestry in
Syracuse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. Eric was a forester
with the United States Forest Service on the Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon
and was the proprietor of Lange’s Groveside, a family-run resort in the Catskill
Mountains. Eric owned and managed the Siuslaw Tree Farm for forty-four years
before donating the property to the Agroforestry Resource Center of Cornell
Cooperative Extension. Eric remains active in the management of the property,
which is now a NYC Department of Environmental Protection Model Forest. Eric
has served on the Board of Directors of the Greene County Soil and Water
Conservation District since 1980 and is presently the Chairman of the Board.
Eric is a Greene County delegate to the Hudson Mohawk Resource Conservation and
Development Council. He is a member of the New York Forest Owners Association
and the Society of American Foresters.
